Margot Robbie Explains How Harley Quinn's relationship with The Joker has evolved.

The DC Extended Universe has undergone a transformation in recent years, and this trend will only continue with the latest addition. The Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn, pledges to improve on its critically panned 2016 predecessor by mending what didn't work and keeping the things that worked. Some of the amazing casting decisions, such as Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, are included. Now, the actress has explained how her character's relationship with the Joker has evolved between the original Suicide Squad and James Gunn's impending sequel.

There are a lot of new characters and big-name actors that James Gunn is bringing in for his big-screen adaptation of Task Force X. Despite the fact that Jared Leto's Joker will not be reprising his role, Margot Robbie revealed that her fan-favorite character's thinking and motives will differ from those of the Clown Prince of Crime. In an interview with the Toronto Sun, the Birds of Prey actress said: “I think in the first Suicide Squad film she had a certain confidence and cockiness, knowing that she had the protection of the Joker. She was like, ‘I’ll go on this mission, and he’ll get me out of here in a second’ … that was kind of her prerogative on that film. Then in Birds of Prey it was, ‘Oh shit, it’s a scary, cold world. Maybe I can’t do it.’ In this film, time has passed, it doesn’t directly link to either of those films, but it’s not something that Harley is wrestling with anymore. She’s not waiting for Mr. J to show up and she’s not wondering if she can do it on her own. She knows.”
